From the moment we walked in to when we walked out the door we got 5 star service. Amazingly attentive staff, amazing food, especially the lamb chops!! The tawa was fantastic and great portion sizes. I'm especially picky with eating out but oh my this is worth me coming back from glasgow for. Even the usually picky children loved the food so much they expanded outside of the usual chicken nuggets they'd be after! Will definitely be back, 10/5 stars!!
Food was out of this world, visiting the area and glad I called in honestly would recommend to anyone local or visiting five star food and five star staff, left feeling sad I live so far away but I will be back
We live a town away and this is by far our fave Indian takeaway. Saag paneer is my go to, always delicious. Delivery is always fast and food comes fresh and hot. They've recently added new dishes to their menu which are super tasty. Would recommend to everyone.
I ordered a takeaway late last night. Ordered the meal deal with a chicken vindaloo, some poppadoms and mixed pickles, as well as 2 cans of juice. The order arrived within an hour and ten minutes which was perfectly fine. The Pakora that came with the meal deal were tasty, though not quite as hot as they could be, still very thoroughly enjoyed them. The curry and rice were piping hot, very clearly freshly cooked, and delicious. The Vindaloo was the perfect spice level, the rice was fragrant and colourful and the chapatti was not too chewy. Mixed pickle was a nice variety, particularly enjoyed the spiced onions, the only complaint I have at all about this place was the juice was not the coldest, but ten minutes in the freezer sorted that right out. Have found my new favourite Indian takeaway in Musselburgh, will have to see if the sit in is as good as the gurkah

Despite a last-minute cancellation from another restaurant, Hanan and Inam went above and beyond to accommodate our group of 18 people with warmth, professionalism, and genuine hospitality. Their service was nothing short of outstanding—attentive, courteous, and truly welcoming from start to finish. The food was phenomenal. We ordered the Tawa for 4, and every element was bursting with flavor. The lamb chops were perfectly cooked, and the pakoras were crisp, fresh, and delicious. Portion sizes were generous, and the quality was evident in every bite. The mocktails were equally impressive—refreshing, vibrant, and beautifully presented. I tried four different ones, and each one was fantastic. A special thank you to Chef Shayru for delivering such exceptional dishes. This was honestly one of the best dining experiences we’ve had, and we can’t wait to return. I’ll be recommending Shish Mahal to all my friends and family. This place truly deserves to expand into Edinburgh—their standard of food and service is outstanding.
Went here with my wife. Hadn't been for a while and glad we went back. Lovely young guy who runs the business couldn't be more accommodating. Some really tasty dishes that you won't get anywhere else. Definitely going back.
First time dining at Shish Mahal and I was impressed with both the service and the food. The waiter when made aware of my dislike of dairy made sure that my food was dairy free. The portion of food was good and the food was delicious. I'd definitely return when next time in the area.
